Our Novato CEREC dentists know that when your tooth is damaged, you want to correct problems and restore your dental health as quickly as possible. Our dental office is equipped with technology that allows us to deliver quick, convenient, and high-quality results. CEREC technology makes it faster and easier than ever before to rebuild a tooth after it is fractured or infected. Today we’re answering your questions about how CEREC works, and why it is increasingly popular among patients of many ages.

Q: What is CEREC?
A: CEREC is an acronym that stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Basically, CEREC refers to a type of technology that allows our team to create dental restorations right here in our office! Traditionally, crowns were crafted in off-site labs and then sent to our office a week or so after the patient’s appointment.

Q: What are CEREC crowns made of?
A: CEREC restorations are milled from porcelain, so they are crafted to be exceptionally natural looking as well as durable. Important distinction: although CEREC crowns are placed in just one appointment, they are not temporary crowns—these are permanent, long-lasting restorations.

Q: What is the treatment process like to get a CEREC crown?
A: When you come into our office, our team will assess your tooth and complete any prep that may be necessary for your tooth. Then, we take a digital impression of your tooth, and input this data into the CEREC machine so that it can craft your restoration. When the crown is complete we fit it to your tooth to make sure that everything looks and feels great. Finally, we bond the crown to your natural tooth.

Thanks to CEREC technology, you don’t have to suffer with a damaged smile for long. Our Novato dentists are happy to give you any additional information you may need about restorative treatment. Give us a call to schedule a consultation!
