Novato Dentist Talks About How We Design Custom Restorations

Written by Dr. McConnell on Jul 19, 2022

All of the restorations that our Novato restorative dentists use to repair smiles are custom-crafted and fit to suit our patients’ unique needs. But what exactly does that mean? Well, it means that we pay special attention to your crown’s…

Size

The proportions of your restoration need to look and function harmoniously with your existing smile. We take special care to craft restorations that truly fit our patients’ smiles. This isn’t solely an aesthetic concern—a restoration that is too big or too small can cause bite problems, tooth damage, and TMJ pain.

Shape

Many patients are surprised to learn just how differently teeth can be shaped from person to person. Whether your teeth are angular and sharp, or soft and rounded, our team can create a restoration that mimics your natural dental shapes. Because teeth can change in shape as they wear down over time, fresh restorations can make a huge difference in the appearance of your smile.

Shade

One of the most important things that our restorative dental team does is to match the color of new restorations to our patients’ teeth. In order to ensure an attractive and natural-looking result, we recommend that you undergo any teeth whitening treatments you’re interested in prior to getting your crown. Because porcelain and composite resin cannot be lightened by whitening gels, we want to make sure to match your restoration to your post-treatment tooth shade.

If you need to repair your smile, do not settle for a one-size-fits-most dental crown. Our Novato CEREC dentists can give you any additional information or guidance that you may need. Just give our team a call!
