Make it easy to drink water
Every time that you swap out a sugary or acidic beverage with water, you help your smile stay healthy. This year, make a commitment to drink more water; this helps to dislodge dental debris and plaque, while simultaneously boosting saliva production. Saliva is your body’s natural way of neutralizing bacteria and re-mineralizing dental enamel. Many of our patients find it helpful to carry a water bottle throughout the day as a constant reminder.
Get your professional cleanings on the books
As you are putting together your schedule for 2020, make it a point to get your dental cleanings on the books right away. Remember, the American Dental Association recommends that all patients come in for professional appointments every six months or so. Your dental team will let you know if you would benefit from more frequent cleanings.
Take a look at your dental tools
The new year is also a great time to swap out old dental tools, to make sure that you are cleaning your smile to the best of your ability. Generally speaking, it is a good idea to start fresh with a new toothbrush every three to four months, and after you’ve been ill.
